Pixel Creators Recognised as Sector Cluster Partner for South Africa’s Animation and Gaming Industries
South Africa’s animation and gaming industries continue to gain momentum, and a major step forward has now been officially recognised.
On 22 April 2026, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture formally recognised Pixel Creators as its sector cluster partner for the Animation and Gaming industries in South Africa. The recognition positions the organisation as a key collaborator in supporting the growth, development and long-term sustainability of the country’s digital creative sectors.
The partnership forms part of the Department’s broader vision to strengthen the Creative and Cultural Industries through collaboration, innovation, skills development and sector coordination.
As the recognised sector cluster partner, Pixel Creators will work alongside government, industry stakeholders, academic institutions and creative communities to help drive initiatives focused on:
- Animation and gaming sector coordination
- Industry research and mapping
- Skills development and youth participation
- Enterprise and industry growth
- Stakeholder engagement and collaboration
- Advocacy, visibility and sector promotion
The recognition highlights the growing importance of animation, gaming, VFX, VR/AR and interactive media within South Africa’s evolving digital economy, especially as more young creatives enter the sector through technology, storytelling and digital innovation.
Pixel Creators is expected to play an active role in connecting industry players, strengthening participation and unlocking new opportunities for creators, developers, artists and digital innovators across the country.
This marks an important moment not only for the organisation, but for the wider creative ecosystem as South Africa builds towards greater visibility, transformation and global competitiveness in the digital space.
